Provides safe, reliable and cost-effective blood, plasma and tissue services to assist with meeting our Nation's needs. This service is available due to blood drives held at local business and organizations throughout the Chapter's jurisdiction. Provides information, education and training in First Aid, Workplace Safety, and Babysitting to employees and citizens in an effort to prevent and properly respond to medical emergencies. Participants learn from class discussions, real life video segments and hands-on practice sessions. Provides training fo the public and private sector to enhance emergency planning efforts, overall preparedness by government organizations, community based agencies, individuals and families for a major disaster or large-scale emergency that disrupts the normal functioning of a community. Provides emergency relief to victims of natural or manmade disasters. Services may range from single-family residential fires to major floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, hazmat incidents and other catastrophic events. No matter the size or type of disaster, basic needs are met. These services may include but are not limited to: food, clothing, emergency shelter, personal items, essential household furnishings, medical supplies and eyeglasses. Assistance may also include emergency health care and mental health care provided by licensed Red Cross volunteers.  Disaster Assistance: provides information and/or short-term assistance, usually in the form of food, clothing, blankets, temporary shelter, furnishings, small appliances or temporary financial aid, for people who have suffered injuries or incurred losses due to a major disaster or large-scale emergency that disrupts the normal functioning of a community. The objective of disaster relief is to help individuals sustain their lives during the immediate aftermath of the event. Disaster Recovery: provides longer -term assistance with the objective of facilitating the return of the community to its pre-disaster condition and/or rebuilding the community in a way that makes it less vulnerable in the future. Provides 24-hour emergency assistance to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Through their worldwide communications network the Red Cross transmits emergency messages when a family member is seriously ill, the family is facing a financial crisis, a child is born, or other emergencies that may threaten the service person or their family. Also, Social Services are provided to families experiencing a hardship. Recruits and places volunteers interested in being a part of the Disaster Action Team and individuals who would like to offer their professional services to instruct Health and Safety classes. The Michigan Department of Human Services (MDHS) has only investigative authority. Enforcement authority is with the police and courts. Anyone may make a complaint if abuse or neglect is suspected. The identity of the reporting person is confidential. Funding is both state and federal.

The Community Foundation For Delta County works to better the lives of area residents, now and in the future. The Foundation will provide leadership including growing and managing permanent endowments from a wide range of donors and making grants to meet changing community needs. The Foundations a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization managed by and directed by a volunteer board of directors. The Foundation receives contributions that are permanently invested. The earnings from the investments are granted back to the community to meet local needs. The Welcome Newborns program was started by a proactive grant from the Foundation, meeting the needs of families giving birth within Delta County. This service is only offered one-time per year. OCCASIONAL EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE: Provides a food package of staples on a quarterly basis to all ages, ages 60 and over on a monthly basis. THE EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: Provides groceries on a limited basis to people who are unable to provide food for themselves or their families. USDA COMMODITY SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM: Provides a monthly $45-$50 food package to low-income seniors and individuals in an effort to stretch limited funds for other household needs.

SUMMER CAMP: Offers week lone camping opportunities and scholarships to individuals of all ages. CHRISTMAS ASSISTANCE: Provides food items for a holiday meal, gift wrapped toys and clothing for the children. EMERGENCY HOMELESS SHELTER: Provides up to 5 days of emergency shelter assistance. If the individual does not have a mean of income, they are referred to the shelter site in Iron Mountain or Green Bay. UTILITY BILL PAYMENT ASSISTANCE: Provides utility bill assistance to low-income individuals facing utility shut-off/disconnection. FOOD PANTRIES: Provides a 3-5 day supply of food to low-income families in an emergency assistance situation. GENERAL COUNSELING SERVICES: Provides individual and family trauma counseling and emotional support. HOUSE PAYMENT ASSISTANCE: Provides assistance to low-income families who have received an eviction/foreclosure notice and denial from FIA. THANKSGIVING ASSISTANCE: Provides assistance to low-income residents in the community for them to celebrate and enjoy the Thanksgiving season. This comes in either in the form of a food basket or a congregate meal.

The Behavioral, Emotional, and Resiliency Skills program is an early childhood prevention program designed to support children ages 0-5 in childcare who are experiencing challenges. Sometimes these challenges may put children at risk of expulsion from their early childcare setting. B.E.A.R.S. is designed to keep children in childcare and will help parents and caregivers. 
We work with licensed child care centers, preschools, and registered family day care homes; relative providers and day care aides. Service is provided by consultants who specialize in infant, young children, and family intervention.
Services provided include: on-site observations at child care or preschool site, home visits for the family, developmental and behavioral assessments, coordination of services, and team planning.
B.E.A.R.S. is a U.P.-wide collaborative partnership of the 4C of the U.P. and Copper Country Mental Health Institute. Funding for this project is provided by Michigan Department of Community Health through funds from the Michigan Early Childhood Investment Corporation (ECIC).

Christian charitable organization whose main purpose is to preach the gospel, disseminate Christian truth, supply basic human necessities, provide personal consoling and undertake the spiritual and moral regeneration of all persons in need. TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE: Offers gas vouchers or Greyhound bus tickets to individuals in an emergency need situation. SUMMER CAMP: Offers week lone camping opportunities and scholarships to individuals of all ages. CHRISTMAS ASSISTANCE: Provides food items for a holiday meal, gift wrapped toys and clothing for the children. EMERGENCY HOMELESS SHELTER: Provides up to 5 days of emergency shelter assistance. If the individual does not have a mean of income, they are referred to the shelter site in Iron Mountain or Green Bay. UTILITY BILL PAYMENT ASSISTANCE: Provides utility bill assistance to low-income individuals facing utility shut-off/disconnection. FOOD PANTRIES: Provides a 3-5 day supply of food to low-income families in an emergency assistance situation. GENERAL COUNSELING SERVICES: Provides individual and family trauma counseling and emotional support. HOUSE PAYMENT ASSISTANCE: Provides assistance to low-income families who have received an eviction/foreclosure notice and denial from FIA. THANKSGIVING ASSISTANCE: Provides assistance to low-income residents in the community for them to celebrate and enjoy the Thanksgiving season. This comes in either in the form of a food basket or a congregate meal.

The U.P. 2-1-1 Call Center is the U.P.'s Community and Human Resource Connection.  2-1-1 is an easy to remeber telephone number that connects people with important community services and volunteer opportunities.  2-1-1 provides information and assistance for over 6,000 services in the U.P. such as: after-school programs, child care, Long-Term Care options, disability resources, employment resources, rent/utility assistance, senior services, housing, transportation, and many more!  2-1-1 is FREE, confidential and available 24 hours a day, 7days a week, 365 days a year.
